Ok, so I’ve been living in Los Angeles for about six months now, and I think I figured out why A. so many other people live here and B. they shoot movies here:
Its freaking gorgeous.
Seriously. I mean I knew it was nice. Temperate. There’s a beach. But its been raining for a week, and this weekend, when the sun came out, it became paradise. The smog was cleared, the hills and ground were this verdant green that rivals emeralds, and you could see clear to the ocean.
Oh, just look:

This was taken from the trail that hikes up Mt. Hollywood. See?

That O and H are the back of the Hollywood sign. Try to climb it and the sheriff in his helicopter will come after you.
In other news, now that the release of The Summer of You is a little over two months off, I’ve been thinking a lot about promotion. I’m going to be setting up some guest blogs and hopefully some website reviews, but I can tell you that one personal appearance I will be making will be at Lady Jane’s Salon in New York the first weekend of April! It’s a great cause and it seems like so much fun: Can. Not. Wait.
And other than that, I’m typing. Typing typing typing. Sigh. Typing.
That’s all for now, so until next week – Happy Reading!

Ha! That’s funny, I also moved to CA recently (about 5 months ago!). I had lived in Atlanta for a year before that doing a research fellowship before I decided to move out here with family. Now I live in the Central Valley, work, and help my aunt and uncle (they grow oranges).
In fact, we drive down to sell at the Hollywood Farmers market (on Ivar and Selma) every Sunday (my other uncle sells dates, I guess we’re a family of farmers).
If you go, you should stop by (you’ll probably get some free citrus, if you’re interested, lol)!
I can’t believe April is already here! Time is flying!
lol, April is almost here, hehe wishful typing!
Wishful typing indeed, Samantha! Part of me can’t wait for the book to come out the other part is saying, “oh no! Already?”
We’re very much looking forward to having you with us at Lady Jane’s in April. The Salon turns one-year-old in February and in the midst of reflecting on a great–magical–first year, we’re super excited to roll out a 2010 chockful of great guests.
By way of a shameless plug, we’re also doing a Special Event Lady Jane’s Salon at the Romantic Times BOOK Lovers Convention later in the month and an Author Workshop for authors interested in starting satellite salons in their hometowns. It will be a challenge to bring the New York vibe to Columbus but my co-founder, Leanna Renee Hieber is a native Ohio-an, so we’re game.
Anyhoo, Kate, I can’t wait to meet you and hear your reading.

Hi Hope! Thanks so much for having me at the Salon and I cannot wait to meet you either! And shamelessly plug away! I would love to have a satellite Salon here in Los Angeles.
